Federal LoansFederal Loans remain in school deferment status while students are enrolled in six
or more credits in an eligible degree program.
Federal Direct Subsidized Loans do not accrue interest while you are in school. Federal
Unsubsidized, Private and Plus Loans accrue interest throughout the life of the loan.
Once you drop below six credits, graduate, or withdraw from school, you will enter
a six-month grace period before repayment begins.
Every student is assigned a loan servicer who will contact you during school and your
grace period to prepare you for repayment. First loan payments are generally due one
